    More grease to thy elbows!

  2. Ato USA Said:

The profile of this outstanding mentor, Prof. Dr. Kuofie, indicates he has excellent academic and work experience. And it seems he has no limitation as to what he can do. A genius? Anyway, I gather the impression that he has contributed more to outside Africa than in Africa. And, therefore, I state that Prof. Dr. Kuofie is rather one of the greatest sons NOT OF Africa, but outside African. Kwamina of Princeton I will accept your statement of August 19, 2007, that he is “one of the greatest sons of Africa” if he continues with his activities to help Africa, too.

  3. FH Said:

I have known Dr. Kuofie for quite sometime.
Whenever I read about him, I am amazed at his new and greater accomplishment.
He is an excellent transformational leader.
Since he was born in Africa and has many international accomplishments, he is one of the greatest sons of Africa. Dr. Kuofie, keep it up.

With all due respect to the organizers of these type of Events, I am still amazed that we (Africans) keep doing things the same way over and over, and expect different results! I recall the onset of CCA (Council Corporate of Africa) whose ” focus’ is to promote US-Africa business investments, and all conferences since inception took place in US but the upcoming that will take place in African soil, Cape-Town (finally and thanks God after so much pushing!)I hope that this drive may take a different approach, otherwise it will be more academically drivena and many studies, consultancies and nothing tangible to the ordinary African and American. I have been in business development arena for the last 10 years dealing with EU,African and US companies, including promoting trade missions both directions, executing partnerships,joint-venture but with very, and very tangible and limited results. I hope that this will produce real tangibles results that will create real and sustainable businesses, otherwise, the trend will continue, an Africans will keep and love travelling to these big conferences in the US and Europe! Hope that organizers are real champions for real cause! Just a quick note that I graduated myself in the US and had a good and respectable Ghanian professor and still have good friends from Ghana, one of them based in the US and working in Angola, and have met a lot in conferences/workshops in the US and Europe!I would like to hear and see the outtcome of these conferences! Prof. Dr. Matthew Kuofie, MS, MBA, PhD
    General Conference Co-Chair
    —-

Thank you very much for your constructive support of the conference. Be assured, we have noted the points you raised.

As the champion/mentor of the conference I would like to address your concerns.
The points you raised are very good and have been raised many times before, and therefore, not new to me.
My academic colleagues and I organize academic conferences in non-African countries, like USA, India and China. We have limited time to do any follow-ups because we have to rush back to classrooms to teach and continue with research. We have been comfortable with that because the support is always available. I do some development work during the summer months/vacation mostly not in Africa.

    –I am changing things!!!—
MOST IMPORTANTLY I am taking my activities to the next level meaning placing more emphasis on implementation of best business,…, practices for economic development. We follow-up with activities after conferences. I am starting these activities with my very close friends and well wishers like you—so you are welcome on board, Honorable Estevao Mambo of Angola. Anyway,Please read on!!!

There were people—in governments, academia and the business world— that kept telling me that I have all the required qualities to help Africa. That I should not concentrate all my activities outside Africa. Some suggested promoting me to the appropriate people for governmental positions. I kept telling them otherwise. But the pressure kept mounting to the point where I could not say no any longer. Here are the few instances:
    1) In July 2005, at an international conference in India, I met Dr. Melissa Saadoum of France; she asked what I was doing for Africa. Dr. Saadoum promised to support my African activities so she is one of our current International Conference Chairs.
    2) In November 2005, at a United Nations’ World Summit on Information Society, I was called upon to make more presentations on a variety of topics, because the participants liked the two prepared papers I presented. After each of my presentations, participants would ask what have I done for Africa.
    3) In September 2006, when I was invited as a guest speaker to a Beijing China Internet Conference, one Africa ambassador –do not want to mention the country, NOT GHANA though, in public– asked me why I did not invite the African community to come and support me at the conference. It was the same month that African government officials had gone to China to look for funds. This ambassador asked what I have done in Africa. He requested that I give something back to Africa.
    4) In October 2006, when I was serving as a guest speaker in Abia State, Nigeria, I was shocked to learn that a Nigerian university graduate can go for a period over five, sometimes ten years without finding a job. I know Nigeria sells crude oil.

The good part is that Nigeria saw something good in me. And on October 26, 2007, I was installed as His Royal Highness Chief Enyi Oma I of Abia State, Nigeria; I am serving as ambassador to the world for economic development. Nigeria gave me the platform to promote economic development. The listed dignitaries from Abia State, Nigeria expecting to attend this November, Detroit conference, had a hand in making me the Royal Highness and the ambassador. Other African countries that were not aware of my international activities, are now getting to know my capabilities. They are realizing the assets I have to offer and are therefore giving me the due attention and recognition.

Honorable, your Embassy in Washington, DC, USA is now aware of my name and this conference. Call for validation, if you so desire.

As you know, Africa is tough to sell due to negative issues known to the outside world. You and I know them too well. If we are helping Africa we have to sacrifice a lot. For example, when I organized the Conference on Information Technology and Economic Development in July 2006 at the University of Ghana. I sponsored that conference with over $30,000 of my own money to ensure that the participants– including those from Nigeria, UK, Finland, and USA– were well taken care of and would leave Ghana with a good memory. Thank God for the extended African family system, my nieces and nephews provided outstanding support to make the conference cost effective and successful.

Our international experts who number over 30–and increasing– are ready to help Africa. At this time, we are dealing with a few selected African countries that are favorable to some USA government agencies. Some of these African governments have provided us with their problems and their contact officials we are to work with. So we will provide blue prints to be reviewed during the conference; the reviewed blue prints will be implemented after the conference.

I am spearheading these activities; they are close to my heart; my reputation is at stake; we will make a difference in Africa.

However, Honorable Estevao Mambo, understand that we do not push our ideas. We are available to help African governments and businesses to be successful—increase market shares and improve economic development. But it’s up to the governments and businesses to “open up” to us.

    Our future conferences include:
    • First Annual International Conference on Business, Finance, Marketing and Management ,June 5-7, 2008, Detroit, Michigan, USA
    http://gsmi-usa.com/IBC2008.aspx

    • 2nd Annual USA-Africa International Business Conference, November 6-8, 2008, Johannesburg, South Africa

    • Conference on Financial Institutions Acquisitions, Consolidations and Mergers for the Emerging Africa Economies, February 6-8, 2008, Lagos, Nigeria

Honorable Mambo, I am looking forward to meeting you at the November Detroit conference or in Angola.

Before then, please let’s talk via phone and/or email. You read my contact info at the top.

God bless Africa, our mother land.

    Have a nice day!!!

  6. Prof Matthew Kuofie Said:

Dear Honorable Estevao Mambo of Angola,

I sent you an email via Linkedln.com but you have not responded. Anyway, I found out that you attended the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. That, you are also the Manager at Chevron Int’l Exploration & Production, an oil company. We are aware that Angola is rich in natural resources including gold, diamonds, Atlantic fisheries, and large oil deposits. But there are problems, even in the oil industry you work. So we can somehow understand your frustration that conferences/seminars you have attended have not solved intended problems. Here is a nice opportunity for you.

We are organizing the Conference on Crisis Prevention and Management in the African Oil Industry (CCPMA0I2007) to be held November 1-3, 2007 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The main aim of this conference, CCPMA0I2007, is to equip governments, nationals and oil companies with tools to prevent and/or manage crisis relating to the oil industry in Africa. This conference will setup a platform for academics, researchers, oil experts, strategist management experts and practitioners to provide the tools for the African governments and oil practitioners. The conference will also establish an international network to communicate and help African oil governments address oil crisis.

For more information, please go to conference website:
    http://gsmi-usa.com/CCPMA0I.aspx

I am the General Conference Chair. But get in touch with my partner Barrister Okon Edem, the Local Conference Chair in Nigeria. (Contact me for his contact information.) He is doing the ground work. Trust me, we will help your company address your oil related problems. It would not cost you much.

    God bless Africa, our motherland.

    Have a nice day!!!

  7. Estevao Mambo Said:

    Dear Dr. Kuofie;

I appreciated you taking time in your busy schedule and adress my note. Please bear with me that my comments are not from pessimistic perspective but encouraging/pushing that we do soemthing for ourselves and for our next generations. While at school in the US, I was an “advocate of the agenda - Return Home and Make a Difference ” and often discussed with my fellow friends from ” LDC’s” that the only way to make a difference is to be an insider, understanding the external world can also help and spur such difference. Therefore, I am an insider, and I can firmly say, I have made such difference being emplyed with an oil giant(I would brief you one of these days) but still a long way to go, we need more champions and advocates from all sectors across the borad, academia, businesses, Governments and so on. I am delighted to know that you are shifting your approach of ” not african”. As of this morning, I have joined your network at Linked and taken note of your adresses. I will call you by tommorrow, and please advise what is the best time undertanding the time zone differences.

Once again thanks for providing me with your contacts, and I will send you also a personal note your email.

    Best regards,
    Estevao Mambo
